Book Review: Starcrossed By Josephine Angelini.

Here we go, my first book revieuw since I changed my blog yesterday. I will try to not spoiler but do please bear with me if I let something slip past my mind in my excitment. I do love this book!

So picture yourself london 2011 in the summer, I was on holiday with my friend and stumbled upon this book. I already grabbed a hold on passion by Lauren Kate and the second book was free to take with you. The cover spoke to me as it is obvious an love story and with the story on the back (found below) I decided to take it with me, best decision ever!
'When shy, akward Helen Hamilton meets Lucas Delos for the first time, she thinks two things: The first that he is the most ridiculously beautiful boy she has seen in her life; The second, that she wants to kill him with her bare hands.
An ancient curse means Lucas and Helen are destined to loathe one another. But sometimes love is stronger than hate, and not even the gods themselves can prevent what will happen next.'
The book itself takes place in the modern day but as we find out later that there is a very big part layed out for the Greek Mythology as well. This is what makes it intresting and some how new to readers across the world. (absolutely different then Percy Jackson!)

When we first meet Helen she is just this normal typical wallflower on any high school. I am sure you know those type of people and are able to name a few from your own high school time. Raised by her single dad and having an best friend she is absolutly normal, as normal as you and I you can say. Well Helen isnt normal, she has these series of mysterious dreams and has hallucinations of three weeping woman.

I loved Helen, she was this girl with a good attitude and an amazing best friend and as I read more and more I grew to like her even more then I already did. Helen grows through out the book and is confronted with a serie of challenges she faces in her own way. Helen is this new superwoman kind of person.

Later we meet Lucas Delos and all you hear at first is how drop dead gorgeus the delos boys are.., But we never read about them ourselfs cause helen isn't intrested in them at all. When we meet lucas all you can think about is how much helen hates him, pure hatred. But the way we can vieuw lucas, He is actually sweet. Lucas is this big brother you never had and love to joke around with. He is loving, well I find him loving.

The book itself is a page turner you cannot put down. The mythology parts of it keeps you thinking and re-reading a few sentences to make up your mind. No fear even I sometimes forgot the names of some of those greek gods and what they could do. I mean there are a lot fo gods with a lot of powers I am sure I wasn't the only one. I finished it in two nights and tought to myself, why oh why did I finish it.., when does part two come out.

All praise goes to Josephine Angelini  who wrote an amazing book for young adults to read. Something you can put your teeth in, learn about greek mythology and enjoy reading. I am sure I did, Let me know if you did read it and what you tought about it yourself.
If your not sure if this is something for you go to josephine her website (linked just a few sentences up) go to the book page and read an excerpt from the book yourself.
